Pedro Jarque Krebs is a fine art photographer whose portraits of animals sit at the edge of image and consciousness. He photographs animals as individuals, and the distance we place between species starts to give way.

A philosophy graduate from the Sorbonne in Paris, he carries that training into the attention each portrait demands, the question of dignity it raises, the possibility that another consciousness is looking back.

His career began in Peru in the 1980s, where he received his first national photography award. Since then, his work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia.

A series of his large-scale portraits has been permanently installed at Casa de Campo station on the Madrid Metro, seen daily by thousands of commuters, since 2022.
